Sending Away The Skeleton

The mirror you used to look in everyday
Has turned transparent but you feel no shame
Now everyone can see you crystal clear
Through this window but you feel no fear
You wave to your friends and say their names
Then introduce yourself to the strangers who came
There is no awkwardness when they speak
And none look down on you like you’re their feet
You feel comfortable and let your thoughts leak
And none tremble or turn the other cheek

For the friends who couldn’t see you today
You’re sending them a letter just to say hey
The words are just written so gentle
You use the pen and not the pencil
You’re not worried about mistakes
There was never anything really at stake
Telling them about all the steps you take
And now your body doesn’t feel the ache

You open the closet door
To release the skeleton
Who knows your secrets and more
You give the letters as medicine
After delivered he can rest his corpse
My new life is ready to begin

One Great Day

(Kind of sloppy)

Wake up this morning happy and free
Shower, got dressed, ready to leave
Walk out the door and down the street
Get into my car and press the pedal with my feet
Wave to my neighbors then take the first right
Feeling great, today is going to be alright
Half way to work but my car starts to slow down
I Pull over and get out but I don't frown
Today it's sunny and it feels so nice
Call a tow truck then ask the price
For today it's half off for some deal
I think to myself  how lucky I feel
Next, call my boss and tell her about my car mess
"I can't come in today" but she doesn't seem stressed
"It's alright, you been working hard" she speaks with such praise
"Your work has been great lately, how bout a raise"
"Thank you very much" I said "Good-bye and have a nice day"
The tow truck hooks up my car and we get back on the highway
The man asks how my day is going so far
I said my day is way above par
He laughs maybe he thought I was being sarcastic
But on this amazing day I feel fantastic
We get to the mechanic, and I tell the man to have a great day
The mechanic says "Hey I can take you right away"
He ask for my keys and I throw them with a pass
He gets behind the wheel and says "Hey, man your just out of gas"
I laugh and ask "Where's the closest station to you"
He replies "luckily we're a gas station too"
I smile now and fill up my tank
I wave good-bye and give him my thanks
I got in my seat and reflect on this perfect day
Put my car in drive and get on my way

The Delightful Girl With Eyes So Bright (A Poem for No One)

I think you’re pretty like an angel
And your choice of style is very tasteful
I really like your jacket
Especially the color of the fabric

Oh by the way my name is Greg
You’re kind of like an Easter egg
A surprise of some kind
That I happened to find
Such a delight
With eyes so bright

Would you like to get coffee one of these nights?
I know we only spoke once or twice
But there we can talk for awhile
Maybe you’ll even show me your cute smile

We can talk about this class
And the tests we took
I really hope we passed
I kind of read the book

I was debating whether
To make this a song
But it wouldn’t sound better
Cause I wouldn’t practice long.

So I wrote the poem instead
I hope you’re not filling up with dread
For me reading this to you
But it was kind of funny, hope that’s true.
